Samsung B2230 22-Inch Monitor Review

Samsung has been pretty quiet of late with no major announcements in the computing segment. Once upon a time they were known for their hard drives and optical drives, but today Samsung is known for their quality LCD monitors, and that too at attractive prices. We have yet to see what they come now with the LED display industry as they have announced a few models. However, we have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on them.

Latest Luxury Laptops Storm Into Contention

7:28 PM
Three other notebooks were tested this month. All had some interesting features, but various shortcomings kept them off the chart.
The ABS Mayhem G4 Revolution fell just short of our all-purpose list. This gaming notebook's ability to flip between an nVidia GeForce Go 6600 graphics chip and its Intel integrated graphics is unique, but its battery life of 2.5 hours was less than stellar.
We also looked at Gateway's new Tablet PC, the CX200X. Although this model was too slow and heavy to make our Top 10 ranking, we found its 14-inch wide screen impressive.
A fourth notebook tested, the WinBook A710, came nicely loaded with features including a 17-inch wide screen and with an attractively low price ($1100), but usability problems with its keyboard pulled down its ranking.
Click on the links above for full reviews of the four notebooks tested this month.

HP Envy Luxury Laptop

f 2008 was the year of the netbook, 2009 was the year of the luxury laptop. After a flurry of tiny, basic notebooks rushed out the year before, manufacturers like Dell, HP and others kicked out sexy, top-of-the-line computing powerhouses. The HP Envy Luxury Laptop is a prime example, featuring an Intel Core i-7 processor, a Blu Ray player, 1080p playback and a premium ATI Radeon graphics processor. The design itself is minimal, refined, but it might be a bit too similar to the latest Macbook Pro design for some. Either way, it’s a step in the sexy direction for HP

Custom Laptop Designs

Former Alienware product development engineer Oscar Zapata launched a new company this week, called NVousPC (very clever!) that customizes laptops with any color paint or image you want. You can choose different colors for each part of the laptop, including bottom, and upload images to their website to be printed on. If you don't buy a new computer from them (starting at $999), you can send in your old piece for a paintjob as well (starting at $186). Or you can just send it to me along with $8 and I'll hook you up with some sweet holographic unicorn stickers, maybe a few garbage pail kids, and top it off with some scratch and sniffs for good measure.

The S6F's 1.4kg chassis also includes 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet. Asus said the machine ships with two batteries - one twice the capacity of the other - so users can choose themselves how best to balance weight and operational duration.
The notebook comes with a global two-year warranty and Asus' zero bright dot policy, which invokes a replacement screen if the bundled unit shows just a single bad pixel.
Asus said the S6F will be offered by a number of IT retailers, along with posh peoples' stores Harrods and Selfridges.

Both laptops are enclosed in an aluminium/magnesium body with a Macbook-style glass single-button trackpad and are set to launch on October 18 pre-loaded with Windows 7.The ENVY 13 is the smaller and less powerful of the two laptops. It packs a 13.1″ WXGA display with excellent colors and brightness, a Core 2 Duo processor and discrete Radeon 4330 graphics and manages to pack a battery life of 7 hours, or 18 (supposedly) with the Slim Fit extended life battery. It also only weighs 1.7 kg and comes with a price tag of US$1,699

Purchasing Laptops On Payment Plans

If you are purchasing laptops on payment plans then you should be heading down the right path to getting yourself a new computer. Monthly payments are a simple and easy way to acquire a laptop and pay on it monthly instead of paying for it all at once. This kind of action can take place online or in person at the store which makes it easily accessible for everyone. Making payments can be great options for the people who do not have all the money to pay up front with. When you buy an expensive system they usually require a lump sum upfront to pay off the item in question. Local banks or retailers can offer payment options and it is usually best to go with a laptop payment plan.

If you cannot decide whether a tablet PC or a notebook/laptop computer is best suited to your requirements, the new, stylish T2010 Lifebook PC from Fujitsu could be exactly what you’re looking for as the device will function as both thanks to its TFT screen being mounted via a bi-directional hinge.
Add into this the addition of Fujitsu’s Shock Sensor Utility which serves to protect your hard drive from head crashes in the event of knocks or impacts and you have a versatile, highly portable mobile computing solution that not only looks the business but is capable of handling just about anything you throw at it.The major draw for us, however, is undoubtedly the device’s hinged screen which, though by no means the first of its kind, is beautifully implemented.

Most of the laptops on this list boast screens 1-2 inches larger than the XPS 16, since in general we want to view things on a high resolution without squinting. But the Studio XPS 16 is not just any 16” notebook. Aside from sporting an excellent and full 1080p 1920×1080 resolution, it claims to display more of the color gamut than any other laptop. We’re not so sure, but the wide gamut RGB LED backlit screen, capable of displaying near 100% of the Adobe color gamut, is without a doubt the best you’ll find in a 16” package.

The resolution is a healthy 1920×1200, the swappable graphics enhances the improved battery life, and the optimal specs of a 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB RAM and a 320GB HDD in concert with the expected Apple good looks will more than satisfy.
